Welcome

BEMA>D was founded on 14th June 2000 as a learning organisation, which actively seeks to promote and improve practice to embrace 'equality of opportunity' and to ensure that those who are at risk of being socially devalued or discriminated against are treated fairly, consistently and in accordance with the application of this equal opportunity. BEMA>D is acting as a bridge between the Greenwich Social Services and The Disabled Black and Ethnic Minority people in the community. At BEMA>D we assist disabled people who have language and cultural difficulties and those who have difficulty in contacting and/or accessing the appropriate mainstream services such as access to education & training, employment, helping with claiming the right benefits.

Disability Jobs Fair

Partnerships

BEMA>D has been formed for the disabled black & ethnic minority people in the borough who haven't been getting the support they need. We promote social inclusion and independent living skills and have been working on projects in partnerships with other community groups to promote this.

BEMA>D is working in partnership with statutory and other voluntary and independent sector organisations.
The main partners for BEMA>D are

Greenwich Disability Resource Centre
Greenwich Local Labour and Business
Sahara Asian Carers Project
United Disability Forum

BEMA>D is part of Greenwich Disability Consortium (GDC) which is currently working on the 'Partners in Time' project. A lot of community work is being undertaken for the benefit of disabled people as part of this project.
